Overview
In many buildings, every system has its own controller: a heating timer in one cupboard, a lighting panel in another, an alarm with its own keypad. In a care home that means staff checking several places at the end of a shift. In a hotel, nobody can see at a glance which empty rooms are still heated. At home, the house simply does not know when you have gone out.
The Loxone Miniserver Gen 2 brings these functions together. It is the home automation hub and central controller of a wired Loxone installation and runs the logic for lighting, heating, shading, security and energy in one place, so the building behaves as one system rather than a collection of separate ones.
How the Miniserver works
The Miniserver is mounted on a DIN rail in a distribution board. Switches, sensors and actuators connect to it, either directly to its inputs and relay outputs or via the Loxone Tree bus. The automation runs on the Miniserver itself, and building data is processed locally rather than stored in the cloud. Residents, guests, staff or facilities managers use the Loxone app or wall controls, and the system is planned and set up in Loxone Config by a trained Loxone Partner.
Central management, comfort and energy
- One overview: lighting, heating, blinds and access for a single home or an entire building in one app.
- Less waste: combined with presence sensors, lights and heating can follow how rooms are actually used instead of fixed timetables.
- Comfort: rooms are at the right temperature and light level without anyone having to think about it.
- Room to grow: up to 30 Extensions via Loxone Link and up to 50 Tree devices, so a project can start small and expand.
- Open to other systems: Modbus TCP and other network protocols over Ethernet.
Good to know
The Miniserver needs a 24 V DC supply and is designed for wired projects such as new builds, major renovations and commercial buildings. For existing properties where new cabling is impractical, the Miniserver Go Gen 2 is often the better starting point.
You can order it here. If you prefer, The Automation House can also advise on it, plan it and supply it as part of a complete solution, with installation and aftercare arranged through our installation partner.

Pros & cons
Our view on this product
What we like
- Plenty of inputs and outputs on board, so smaller projects may need fewer extra modules
- Your data is processed on the Miniserver itself, not in the cloud
- Tree and Link keep wired installations tidy
Worth knowing
- Fitted in a distribution board by an electrician, with a separate 24 V DC power supply
- Wireless Air devices need an Air Base Extension (sold separately)
